우주왕복선에는 싸이드미러가 없지만, 어릴 적 싸이드미러가 달린 우주선 장난감을 본 것 같은 기억에서 만들어진 이름이다. 아이러니한 팀 명답게 포크와 힙합의 절묘한 조화가 담긴 사운드로 마니아층의 사랑을 받고 있다. 특히 일상에서 시작되는 청춘들의 감정을 재미있게, 군더더기 없이 가삿말에 담아내며 20~30대가 겪는 작은 순간들을 솔직하게 노래한다.
2016년 싱글 [빌린빤쮸]로 데뷔, 2017년 EP [이 음악은 실화를 바탕으로 만들어졌습니다]를 발매한 우주왕복선싸이드미러는 2018년 'EBS 올해의 헬로루키' 대상을 수상하며 주목받기 시작했다. 2018년에 정규 1집 [무동력]을 발표, 2019년 한국 대중음악상 올해의 신인 부문에 노미네이트 되기도 했다. CJ 문화재단 튠업 20기, Mnet '포커스' 출연 등으로 주목받으며 무한한 음악적 역량을 증명하였다.
최근, 섬뜩하면서 위트 있는 표현법이 인상적인 싱글 <DRACULAGIRL>을 발매하며 우주왕복선싸이드미러만의 감각적인 음악을 들려주고 있다.
Space shuttles don't have side mirrors, but the band name Wussami came from a childhood memory of a toy spaceship that had side mirrors. As ironic as their name is, they have won the hearts of fans with their sound, which masterfully blends folk and hip-hop. They capture the emotions of youth that stem from everyday life, infusing their lyrics with humor and honesty, and singing about the small moments experienced by people in their 20s and 30s.
They debuted in 2016 with the single [Feelin’boutchu], and in 2017, released the EP [This Music is Based on a True Story]. The band Wussami began gaining attention after winning the grand prize in the 'EBS Hello Rookie of the Year' contest in 2018. They released their first full-length album, [Take My Hand], in 2018 and were nominated for Rookie of the Year at the 2019 Korean Music Awards. They have demonstrated their boundless musical potential through various recognitions, including being selected for the 20th 'Tune Up' by the CJ Cultural Foundation and appearing on Mnet's 'Folk Us'.
Recently, they released the single <DRACULAGIRL> which impresses with its spooky and witty expression.
