Singer-songwriter Kim Sawol debuted in 2014 as part of the folk duo 'Kim Sawol X Kim Haewon.' Since then, she has established a unique style that is self-confessional yet provocative, introspective yet lively. As a singer-songwriter who captures moments that everyone experiences but often goes unexpressed and forgotten, Kim Sawol combines remarkably well-controlled sounds with intimate and bold lyrics to accurately convey universally felt emotions. She honestly speaks of precarious feelings captured in everyday moments, offering comfort to the youth living in uncertain times. In March 2024, she released her fourth full-length album, [Default]. The album consists of 12 diverse tracks, starting with the lively rock and roll song with vintage sounds, Love Me(Or Else)", and continuing with "Signals Across the Night" which aligns with Kim Sawol's previous works. Critic Kim Yoonha described the album [Default] as "an album engrossed in the act of tearing everything down and rebuilding it. Kim Sawol's chemical formula has been rewritten."
